Have you Meditated today?

Have you meditated today?
Not too long ago I was more consistent with my meditation practice due to ‘Getting into the Vortex’ by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Fifteen minutes in the morning – that’s all I was required to give of my day and then I let other tasks take over and found myself saying, “I’ll do it later.” And, well, you know….later never came. It’s like going to the gym on those hectic days; we think we’ll go ‘later’ and then something else comes up and that’s life.
I noticed that my lack of meditating led to an imbalance in my thoughts, which became a reflection of my outer world and physical being. It’s like the door to chaos reopened. That feeling permeates in everything and yet there’s an awareness and acceptance that has led me back to my meditation practice and maybe that’s one of the benefits – to realize that when things go awry you can do something about it with a knowing that we can create a new reflection of balance in our life and when that happens we can manifest more of what we desire vs. what we don’t want in our life.
And this morning I remembered how much meditating was benefiting me. That calm feeling. Thoughts of clarity. And more focus and energy to get me through the day. How could I neglect something that promoted such a positive influence? So that was the question I woke up with this morning and I made a decision to commit once again. That’s the reason for this post today. If you give meditation a chance you’ll see the benefits as well and find that ‘balancing rhythm’ that Esther Hicks and Abraham refer to. Chances are that if you stop by Mindful Adventures often then you probably are already meditating and that’s great as research shows that there is an increase in those who meditate.
All you need is 10-15 minutes each day and the morning is best as you can set your positive intention for the day and you’ll feel a sense of peacefulness and clarity during your meditation that will continue once you’re done.
If you’re new to meditation:
- Set aside 15 minutes in the morning before you get into your day
- Find a comfortable position, relax and close your eyes
- A guided meditation CD is best for beginners and one that I like is Getting in the Vortex by Jerry & Esther Hicks
- Focus on your breathing – this is important and a guided meditation will help you
- As you continue with your meditation practice you may find that you’d like to add beads/prayer beads to help you focus
- Thoughts may come and go and it’s best to acknowledge them and release them
- Relax and release any resistance you may feel – let the guided meditation lead you to a renewed state of being
More info:
According to the latest research, meditation has been linked to changes in blood pressure, metabolism, brain activation and other bodily processes. It has been shown to help with pain reduction and stress relief. Two of the major benefits most of us seek along with that feeling of inner peace.
Are you ready to experience the benefits of meditation? I hope you’ll consider adding this practice to your day and hope even more that you’ll come to feel inner peace, clarity and balance.

Book Review Revisited: Mind Over Fat Matters by Dr. Lavinia Rodriguez
Friday, June 10th, 2011 | Meditation, Nutrition, Relaxation, Weight Loss, fitness, healthy living, well-being, wellness | No Comments
It’s nearly summer and I thought this would be a great time to revisit one of my favorite books on healthier living, Mind Over Fat Matters:: Conquering Psychological Barriers to Weight Management.
The original review is included below so this is more of a refresher of the original tips Dr. Rodriguez shared for adding fitness to your day despite the warmer temperatures. Whether you’re already engaged in a consistent fitness routine or looking for more ways to add movement to your day, these tips may motivate you to take more steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
Back to Basics.
According to Dr. Rodriquez, “going back to step one and establishing realistic expectations and obtainable workouts is key. Not only does having a solid understanding of how exercise effects weight loss empower you to make better decisions, you’ll also see better (and faster) results. A solid understanding of how to exercise properly goes a long way in getting your desired results. The objective is to move at a pace that gets your heart rate up where you experience heavy breathing, but not to the point of pain. As always, exercise should be enjoyable or you’ll never be able to make it part of your daily routine!”
Take advantage of the great outdoors.
“Summer is the perfect time to make exercise a part of your daily routine,” says Rodriguez. “For one thing, the weather is warm, so outdoor exercise is much more fun – especially in the milder mornings and evenings. Also, the days are longer and sunnier, giving you more time to enjoy Mother Nature. Remember, there is no better fat burner than an active lifestyle.”
Find a way to fit fitness in.
“Think about it this way,” suggests Rodriguez. “If you had a doctor’s appointment, you would make sure nothing interfered with that time. Your exercise time should be given the same priority. If anyone asks to see you during your exercise time, decline and reschedule. Creating healthy habits only increases your chance of slimming down.”
More from Mindful Adventures:
So what are some activities you like to do during the summer? Tennis, swimming, hiking, kayaking, perhaps yoga on the beach or by a lake may be of interest. Make a list of what you like to do and get started, change it up and take that first step if it’s been a while. Schedule time each day to focus on your health – plan your healthy menu, include activity and enjoy relaxation. As we all know, there’s no time like the present. Forget about what you didn’t do yesterday and what you might do tomorrow, it all starts with now!

Mindful Adventures Thanks Oprah for 25 Amazing Years!
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 | Gratitude and Inspiration | No Comments
I complete me. You complete you. We heard that again today on the Finale that others don’t complete us. We know we’re responsible for our own lives and hold the power within to live our best life. We’ve heard Oprah say inspiring things similar to this and she shared her love and light with thousands over the years. Her reach is so great that lives will continue to change for the better for many years to come – a fulfilling life and a life that has inspired many to continue to remember that they have that power within to change their own life and empower others to do the same. I hope that I can be a catalyst for positive change.
Oprah – you have been a light of inspiration and empowerment over the last twenty-five years and have helped so many face and overcome their fears. You’ve said, “In every aspect of our lives, we are always asking ourselves, How am I of value? What is my worth? Yet I believe that worthiness is our birthright.” That statement alone has changed many lives and we know that we must connect with our authentic self and trust the innate power we hold within to create and live the dreams we’re destined to live. There are countless other comments I can list and I welcome comments from others in the space below.
May God’s Grace continue to bless you as you have blessed us with your amazing grace over the years.
One of my all time favorite songs that means a lot to me personally and continues to inspire me to be my best.
With joy and much gratitude!
Happy Mother’s Day from Mindful Adventures!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I thought I’d post a few links to a few beautiful songs. Music is healing, music helps us to connect, music lives on forever and can touch our heart in a way that nothing else can. It can bring us up, it can calm us down, it can inspire us and move us in so many ways.
If you’re still thinking of what to get your Mom for Mother’s Day, perhaps the gift of music or even sharing these songs will touch her heart.
1. A Mother’s Prayer by Rachel Aldous
2. Mother’s Day – I wasn’t able to find the artist at this link, however it’s another
wonderful song
Also, did you know that the idea of Mother’s Day dates back to 1868? Click here for more on the history.
Feel free to include a comment here for your mom – no matter where she is you’re always connected.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Miraval offers more than a spa experience as you’ll see on Oprah and if a friend is unable to go on an adventure with you then consider a solo-adventure, my favorite way of experiencing Miraval.

Ingrid Millet Paris expands luxurious skincare products in the U.S.
Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 | Beauty, Skincare | No Comments
I recently had an opportunity to experience Ingrid Millet Paris skin care products at home, however my first experience of these amazing products was at the Peter Island Resort and Spa a couple of years ago. The spa director had the most beautiful and luminous skin and when we chatted about her secret, she mentioned using Ingrid Millet products for years both personally and at the spa and that led me to confirming a facial immediately. Knowing that one facial would just be the start to healthier skin, I also knew that I would have that glow post facial and that would be gratifying.
History First
The very first Ingrid Millet Institute opened in 1966 and offered a holistic approach to skin diagnosis, a personalized regime and home-use products. Several years later in 1972, Ingrid discovered the benefits of caviar and the aging process, which led to the Perle de Caviar line.
Her pioneering work led to the discovery of how plant cellular extracts have a rejuvenating effect on the skin and she was the first to use them in cosmetics.
The Products
I’ve been using several products, however two that I’m highlighting today from the Perle de Caviar line include Fluide Velours – Rich Moisture Cream and Hydro-Serum – Rich Moisture Serum.
These products are light, however so luxurious. I used them in tandem and noticed results more quickly than with other products that I’ve used. My skin was dryer than usual since moving further north and the most noticeable benefit was hydration. My skin appeared brighter as well and I’m sure that’s from being hydrated with more concentrated ingredients and most likely from the Serum due to the higher percentage of the Caviar Complex. I’m still using the Rich Moisture Cream as it has lasted longer than I anticipated, which is great. My skin also feels smoother and noticeably firmer.
Active Ingredients:
Fluide Velours – 7% Caviar Complex and 1% Marine Collagen
Serum – 12% Caviar Complex, 31.5% Hydro Captive Complex, 2% Marine Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid*
Pricing and Availability:
Both products are priced higher than most other skin products on the market, however they also lasted longer than other products I’ve used and for that reason and for the benefits I mentioned above I would consider looking into a spa offering Ingrid Millet facials or products in your area for more information.
Where can I find Ingrid Millet products or facial services in the U.S.?
There are several spas currently using Ingrid Millet Paris products including
TIBA NU in Nashville, TN
800-964-6868
Centre d’Esthetique in New York City
212-265-6380
The Pearl Modern Spa and Boutique
Phone 301-776-6948

Next Time:
I recently began using Cristal Eye Gel (Anti-Wrinkle for the Eyes), which is also from the Perle de Caviar line and it’s too soon to report on my personal findings on this product as well as the Caviaressence Relaxing Anti-Wrinkle Cream. More details on both of these in the near future.
Healing Stories of Love, Loss and Hope-Interview with Author Susan Apollon
Monday, March 28th, 2011 | Healing Music, Meditation, well-being | No Comments
In my recent interview with Susan Apollon, author of both Book 1 and Book 2 of Touched by the Extraordinary, we discussed Signs from our Loved Ones, Spiritual Healing, The Law of Attraction, Healing from Grief and Trauma and so much more. Susan’s voice is comforting and her stories are uplifting and inspirational.
My interest in speaking with Susan for both Book 1 and now Book 2 is also personal and this interview was timely as well. I was first introduced to Touched by the Extraordinary in 2006 shortly after the passing of my husband and because it was so timely, I felt that it was a sign that it appeared when it did. And, here we are five years later at the 5th anniversary of my personal loss. I believe in signs and have witnessed several over the years, and so this interview is special to me and my hope is that it will be timely for you as well.
Early in our discussion, you’ll hear us discuss ‘Signs’ and according to Ms. Apollon, “Many of us love to have those moments. The reason for this, I believe, is that these times are validations that there is so much more to life than what you can see, touch or feel and that life may not end with the death of the body. Their very occurrences indicate to us that we are not alone, that when we ask for help, we are heard and that we are dearly loved.”
Whether you have recently lost a loved one or are going through a time of healing, I believe that you will feel a sense of hope and love as you listen to our conversation. That is my hope and that is my intention as I post this podcast for you. Please share it with others to help them in their personal journey.
Listen to my interview with Susan Apollon
A follow-up article will also be posted here on MindfulAdventures.com in the next few weeks and until then, listen as often as you need to and let Susan’s compassionate voice and wisdom help you in your personal healing.

More Celebrity-inspired ideas for your next Spa Adventure!
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 | Beauty, California Spas, Relaxation, Skincare, healthy living, well-being, wellness | No Comments
The Academy Awards may be over, however here are more celebrity-inspired spa ideas to look your best everyday.
For instance, to protect your skin, SkinCeutical’s Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50® is one to consider ($30 retail). And, Jennifer Lopez is a fan of the line and uses the paraben-free mattifying fluid to protect her skin from damaging UV rays.
Glee’s Naya Rivera is a fan of Skin 2 Skin Care products (as is Ryan Seacrest) and two that are staples of Hollywood makeup artists include their Anti-Sagging Renewal Serum ($65 retail), which promotes collagen growth and the Revitalizing Eye Gel ($42 retail). The serum promotes collagen production while the eye gel reduces puffiness and brightens dark circles with the help of anti-oxidants.
For my California readers and fans of Spa Montage Beverly Hills, consider the Ultimate Pre-Red Carpet Spa Experience (now through March for $1050*). This package includes four treatments and products to take home to continue your camera ready experience. You’ll enjoy an anti-aging facial using oxygen serums to firm and contour, body sculpting therapy to target tummies and thighs, a beautiful back and arms facial to get glowing skin in those low cut dresses and an Elements of Earth Wrap to draw out impurities.
* It’s recommended to book treatments over the course of two to three days.
Thank you to the International SPA Association for the latest data and information on these products.
To your journey!
